Who’s a Workout Warrior? YOU ARE!
Well, if I’m being honest we all fucking are! Even if you’re just thinking about living a more active lifestyle; I induct you as a Workout Warrior.
We live in a world that doesn't celebrate self-care. It doesn’t honour physical, emotional & energetic health. So if you’re breaking out of that mould, if you’re consciously making choices to improve your overall wellbeing, know that I honour you & I celebrate you.
You may not consider yourself a workout warrior but trust me, you are one. Every time you show up for yourself, know that you are a Workout Warrior.
I’m not an athlete. Nor have I ever been. I don’t look super fit. I have jiggly bits and squishy bits. And I actively work on loving every bit of this strong, sweaty, jiggly & squishy body every damn day.
I’ve been 200+lbs. I’ve been 100lbs. And I’ve been miserable at both. I’ve been overwhelmed with crushing pain and anxiety. I’ve starved myself, gorged myself & everything in between. I’ve overcome major physical trauma, eating disorders, substance abuse, addiction, anxiety & PTSD. Hey- we all have our stories!
All this to say- wherever you’re coming from, whatever brings you to movement, know that I see you. Know that I honour & acknowledge you. It’s not easy. Working out consistently is not easy. It’s simple- but not easy.
I didn’t start working out regularly until I hit my 30s and that was because I hated my body, like every fucking piece of it! I hated the way I looked. I hated the way I felt. I hated all the physical pain I was in. I learned that I hated all of those things more than I hated working out.
It took time- lots of time- like YEARS- but as my body & mind started feeling better I was more inspired to workout. To move. To fuel my body with healthier options. But let’s be honest- I won’t be giving up pizza, fries, cookies or ice cream anytime soon.
Fast forward 7 years- ya, 7 fucking years guys- and I can’t imagine NOT moving my body daily. The biggest thing that's changed for me is my focus. I workout now because it makes me feel better, it helps me tame my anxiety & control my crazy. And if my butt looks better in the process, then cool.
Let’s get real- Movement of body creates movement in life. For me, at this point, it’s about changing my vibration. Changing my state. Releasing some happy hormones & feeling like a badass in the process. Sweating out a shitty day & reconnecting with the feelings in my body. Although I have been known to have a burpee obsession aaaand I do love a good booty burn ;)
Here’s what I want you to know, Workout Warrior… Do what you can. Every day—just do what you can. It doesn’t have to be perfect, or impressive, or elaborate it just needs to be consistent. You don’t need to match anyone’s grind- you just gotta show up for you.
I find I tell every client & every group I teach the same thing. That is: “Be honest with yourself. Where are you today? And know that I give you permission to proceed as such. And I ask that you give yourself the grace to proceed accordingly.”
That doesn’t mean we don’t work hard- because we do! But it does mean that we show up ready to adapt to our own needs, ready to honour our bodies and ready to kick ass, in our own way.
Even if we never meet in person, if you never come to a class I’d like you to honestly consider what you can do, how can you move your body, how can you change your vibration and honour yourself! Go for a walk, dance in your kitchen, have sex with your partner, whatever! Just move! Your body & mind will thank you for it!
